Thanksgiving 2010

Well we had Ray and Barbara’s cousin’s son and his family over for Thanksgiving Dinner. We spent the days before cooking and cleaning (Barbara cooked, I cleaned). Everything from the turkey to the Apple-Raspberry crumb pie was delicious and well worth all the work. Before our company get here it started to snow. Nothing stuck (not even to the car) it just had not been cold enough for the ground to freeze yet. Our roof neighbors grandchildren went out and tried to catch snow flakes on their tongues, very funny to watch. Everyone had a good time and all went well.

First pictures with new camera

While Barbara was out at her book club I took my new Nikon D5000 for a walk around the neighborhood. Before I knew it I had taken just over 100 pictures, it does not take long. It was a bit tricky changing lenses but once I figured out to get the one lens ready before taking the other lens off the camera I got it down to about 20-30 seconds to change a lens.

New Camera

Yesterday I was able to purchase my first SLR camera. I bought a Nikon D5000 DSLR at CostCo. I have a lot to learn on how to use it as it has many more options then my Canon Point and Shoot. I will keep using the Canon for times when I just want to get a quick shot but I can not wait to go to Longwood Gardens with my new Nikon. It came with two lenses, a 18X55mm and a 55X200mm and from what I have read these lenses are good ones to start with. I have a few things to do around the house and after that is done I think I might take the Nikon out and try doing some shooting in the neighborhood.
